The centennial jubilee! Year 2009 was a jubilee year for Stockholm School of Economics. The culmination event, celebration of the centennial jubilee of the school in the City Hall of Stockholm, a meaningful place for all Swedes, took place in September. Blue Hall, the place of the Nobel Prize awarding ceremony, became the place of the jubilee celebration this autumn.
Ratings of Financial Times Executive MBA of Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) took the first place in Northern Europe and Baltic Sea region and the 19th place in Europe in the international rating of 95 best Executive MBA programs published by Financial Times newspaper on October 19 of 2009. All three Executive MBA programs of Stockholm School of Economics – in Sweden, Russia and Lithuania – participated in the rating of Financial Times for the second year in succession. One hundred and ninety-seven alumni of Executive MBA programs of Stockholm School of Economics from all over the world were polled during composition of the rating, which once again proved that they enjoyed demand on the international market. One hundred and thirteen Executive MBA programs participated in the rating and only 95 of them were put on the final list.
Open Doors Day On October 22, Stockholm School of Economics Russia had the first Open Doors Day in Marriott Courtyard Moscow City Centre. More than 80 guests gathered for the event. This time, they were given a unique opportunity to communicate not only with employees of the school but also with our alumni. Thanks to Andrei Dashunin, Mikhail Chernyshev, Natalia Shtaltovnaya, Maxim Kopylov and Veronica Zusmanovich we attracted many new participants to Executive MBA programs. The Open Doors Day also included speeches of program directors and lecture of Dean Anders Liljenberg.
HR forum On September 29, the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce organized the fourth annual HR forum "Cooperation with services providers: what to expect?" with participation of Ancor holding.
Executive MBA in Russian On November 4, Stockholm School of Economics, Russia launched Executive MBA program in the Russian language for the first time. Despite the crisis, the program attracted big interest and gathered top and middle-rank managers not only from Moscow and St. Petersburg but also from the CIS countries, Ukraine and Russian regions. Enlistment to the second group of Executive MBA program in the Russian language begins in Spring. This is conditioned by a big interest in the program and a big quantity of the candidates who have not managed to join the second group on time.
Business landscape of St. Petersburg 2009 On December 17, Dean of the school Dr. Anders Liljenberg spoke at the final conference of Vedomosti newspaper entitled "Business landscape of St. Petersburg. Results of 2009" and read a report named "Trends of business education in 2009." In general, speakers discussed the following topics:
Graduates of 2009 The Graduation ceremony of Executive MBA SSE Diplomas took place in the Winter garden of Astoria hotel on December 18.

President of MONE Alexander Glushkov said, "This is recognition of 11 years of development of the whole company and the team with which we work every day. Today, MONE is a broadly recognizable brand that is associated with style, quality and prestige. It would be sufficient to say that this year our company became the official stylist of the national beauty contest "Miss Russia 2009," Haute Couture Week in Moscow and some big fashion events."The first alumni module The first alumni module of Executive MBA program took place near St. Petersburg between November 6 and 8. Alumni of various years received a unique opportunity to meet again and gather into the unique atmosphere of the Stockholm School of Economics.
Roundtable meetings with the Dean Roundtable meetings with alumni took place in autumn. On September 21 in St. Petersburg and on October 21 in Moscow Dean of Stockholm School of Economics Anders Liljenberg invited alumni of the school to participate in the roundtable meetings dedicated to discussion of the topic of opening of a program for education of bachelors in the field of business and economics. Anders Liljenberg reported what was going on in the school now and in which direction Stockholm School of Economics Russia planned to develop in the future. The alumni shared their ideas about the new projects and commented on them. We thank those who have managed to come and to participate in discussions!
A new appointment in Mail.ru Alexander Borodich, alumnus of EMBA Strategic Marketing program of Stockholm School of Economics Russia, was appointed marketing director of Mail.Ru. Borodich had a similar post in Acronis before. Between 2002 and 2003 he was the head of å-commerce department in Direct Info and between 2005 and 2009 he was marketing director in Acronis and was in charge of Internet promotion and online sales of the company's products all over the world. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
A solemn graduation ceremony for RZD In November of 2008, Stockholm School of Economics Russia launched the first round of corporate educational program for RZD holding.
Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) A corporate educational program of SSE Russia for the Russian division of Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), international leader in pharmaceutical industry, was launched on September 25. The corporate program was developed in close cooperation by specialists of Stockholm School of Economics Russia and managers of Bristol-Myers Squibb. Among participants of the program are top managers of the company including general manager of the Russian division of Bristol-Myers Squibb Michel Manin, as well as heads of departments and middle-rank managers with prominent leader qualities. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In 2010 the research group of Stockholm School of Economics headed by professor Carl Fey will once again carry out a research of global competitiveness for the World Economic Forum. Stockholm School of Economics has been a partner of the World Economic Forum since 2001. Tens of managers participate in the poll annually and express their personal onion about some issues related to the business environment and competitiveness of the country in various sectors of economy.
